Blazing the Trail: ROY, BRANDON ROY is Clutch.

Posted in Uncategorized on November 13, 2010 by shotymeapparel

Name your Top Five Clutch Performance Players and I bet you wouldn’t say his Name.  In a League where Names like Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Lebron James,  Kevin Durant…. you would hardly think, Brandon Roy is mentioned in the same breath.  I’m going to be bold on this topic and state that Brandon Roy is one of the TOP FIVE CLUTCH Players in the NBA.  After watching the 110-108 Loss in Oklahoma, I noticed Brandon Roy Had the Ball in his hands and either scored or made a play…for 8 straight points. When Durant missed his free throw to ice the game, the Ball should have been in Roy’s Hand.  If you Don’t agree, check out the video below.

Here are some More clips B.REAL

“I look back at [Michael] Jordan, and Kobe recently. Those guys try to dominate. You look at big men like Shaq, they dominate,” Roy said. “It was an edge. I got to get that edge. Even when I play against Carmelo and those guys, they play with that edge. They want to bury you. I’m thinking, ‘I got to get that edge.’ ”

Roy has averaged 27 points on 57 percent shooting in the four games since the Blazers fell to Denver. The Blazers won all four games. He has no plans to dial back his aggressiveness.

“Every day, I got to prepare and it’s not just a switch,” Roy said. “Kobe was saying that. We were about to play in the All-Star game, and he said, ‘Let’s go hard.’ I said, ‘Why do you want to play so hard in the All-Star game?’ He said, ‘It’s not a switch. You have to do it every day.’ I’m learning that now. It’s not a switch.

“I’ve gone so long in my life not being that way. Now, I got to turn more aggressive, more mean. I’ve never been one to be a [expletive]. But sometimes on the court, you have to be a [expletive].”

Brandon Roy is there.  Top five clutch players in the NBA. Period.

NBA Bans Air Jord…..”Athletic Propulsion Labs Shoes?!?!?”

Posted in For Serious???? on October 20, 2010 by shotymeapparel

Hey guy,  J.J. back online after disappearing for sometime.  But have you heard about the latest news…..25 years ago today, the NBA banned Nike’s Black and Red Air Jordan 1’s.

Today, October 19, 2010,  NBA Commissioner David Stern bans yet another Shoe.  They are not Nike, Adidas, or even any of the Chinese Shoe Companies, but a shoe designed by little start up company, Athletic Propulsion Labs.

The claims to the shoe is that it’s technology would increase the wearer’s vertical leap.  In other words, there is a spring loaded technology within the shoe that allows a wearer to …”jump higher.”

For the first time in its 64-year history, the National Basketball Association (NBA) has banned a new line of shoes based on the league’s rule against an “unfair competitive advantage” that increases a player’s vertical leap. The league’s ban on Athletic Propulsion Labs’ Concept 1 confirms the company’s claims that the shoe, with its Load ‘N LaunchTM Technology, performs as advertised. No professional player will be allowed to wear the product in games for the upcoming 2010-2011 NBA season.

This action comes on the 25th anniversary of the NBA’s ban on Nike’s Air Jordan shoes, albeit for reasons of their colorful appearance rather than any performance advantage.

Athletic Propulsion Labs (APL) was notified by a senior NBA official who stated, “League rules regulate the footwear that players may wear during an NBA game. Under league rules, players may not wear any shoe during a game ‘that creates an undue competitive advantage (e.g., to increase a player’s vertical leap).’ In light of that rule…players will not be permitted to wear the APL shoes during NBA games.”

The shoe’s retail for $300.00.  A lot of people wouldn’t even bother to check this shoe out, even with the countless magazine advertisements.  But, thanks to the NBA….$300.00 to satisfy the curiosity and the thought of Jumping higher after wearing these shoes seems so… reasonable. Thank you David Sterns, Like the Balance Wrist band’s effectiveness of Strengthening the Body, you have successfully marketed a shoe that promotes increased vertical propulsion (jumping) enhancement to the wearer. What do you know… it’s started already…..  Check out their website…http://www.athleticpropulsionlabs.com/

I will accept donations to by a pair and tryout the product.  You can me email at shotyme.apparel@gmail.com subject:attn J.J.  I will personally Set up a test for this shoe:  YouTube,  Actual measurements, specific trials on the shoe’s capabilities, you name it…..

Founders,  Adam and Ryan Goldston, both former University of Southern California basketball walk-ons, have yet to make a statement.

But, why say something when someone like David Sterns has already said it all.  Just because the NBA bans it, other professional sports haven’t yet.  Certainly not highschool, or College Sports….( Light bulb guys…) APL has just gotten BIGGER!!!!!

Scottie Pippen: Hall of Fame 2010

Posted in Driven to Succeed, Remember the Name, Sho'Tyme Exclusive on August 17, 2010 by shotymeapparel

Hey fellow readers.  Sorry being absent but things are pretty hectic.  Ben Working overtime with the Fall line up, Photoshoots lining up, and New Uniforms for Bay Area’s Tenacious D basketball Team. So Stay tuned…. But now….

As we know,  Scottie Pippen of Chicago Bulls has been inducted to the Hall of fame Class of 2010. It has been long over due and I am excited Pip got in to the HOF.  I always watched the Bulls when I was a young. Like many young Bulls fan, I tried to copy MJs fadeaway and up and under reverse layups.  I never appreciated the finer things Scottie Pippen has done for the Bulls during their 6 Championship runs. Until I revisited the Game 1 of the Bulls vs. Pacers playoff series in 1998.  Scottie, if you ever read this…I play defense because of you.

Where there is a Jordan, who is the “Man”…. Scottie nonetheless is also the “Man” in his own right. Creating Defensive havoc  on opposing guards with his 6′ 8 frame and 7’o wingspan.  On the Offensive end, he has the vision to see up the court for the pass, the skills to knock down the long three, the speed to blow by bigger defenders and the footwork and skill sets to post up on Smaller players.

Many people ask, without Pippen, will Jordan win an NBA Championship, let alone 6?  No. But I also have to add on, without Jordan, Will Pippen win 6 Championships?  No.   I can say Both great Players Complimented each other on the Floor.  Defensively and Offensively. They challenged each other during practice, they competed against each other.  In result,  they played…together, and won, and won, and won some more.

Watching Pippen’s Hall of Fame speech, the person who introduced him was none other than, Michael Jordan.  It was fitting.  I had a smile on my face when I saw that.  Such respect between the two players, team mates, and friends.  A great induction indeed.

Congrats to Scottie Pippen, Hall of Fame class of 2010.

Bring back the toys.  I remembered when toys were not as detailed back then.  Starting Line figurines were one of the first toys for  collectors.  Today, figurines have been upgraded.  Korean designer Cool rain has designed a set of Mindstyle’s NBA figurines that can be purchased later in the fourth quarter.  Looking at the pictures, they look awesome.  I am also a big fan of  Macfarlane Toys where the NBA players are well detailed.

Mindstyle NBA figurines are on my radar when they release them.  Are you going to get some??????  Just imagine, releasing the Bulls Championship team Set.  Oh YEAH!!!!

One Man’s Decision. Another Man’s Challenge:Kobe Bryant

One Man’s Decision.  Another Man’s Challenge: Kobe Bryant

Written by J.J.

A  new generation a new Challenge.  Magic Johnson once said, “There will never be another Larry Bird.” He was right, I don’t think there has been another Larry Bird.  There will never be a Magic Johnson.  And amongst the greats who have accomplished the most.  There will never be another Michael Jordan.

Greatness Attained

What sets apart one great player from another.  Michael Jordan took on challenges, accepted them, made his team mates better, and ultimately…challenged everything that was presented to him and…..resulted in 6 Finals MVP.  6 Championships.

Greatness Pursued

Every great player has a challenge that will solidify their immortality in the history books.  Kobe Bryant may have said beating the Celtic’s trio of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnet was he toughest challenge yet.  I beg to differ.  To put his place alongside Michael Jordan, he needs to beat the new trio of Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.  To take up the Challenge and conquer this decades best, Kobe Bryant, at the peak of his game must beat them.  To be separated from the Michael Jordan comparisons and all the championship comparisons…Kobe Bryant and  Lakers  must beat the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals.  `

Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh are still in their 20’s.  When the Pistons beat the Lakers, they beat Karl Malone, Gary Payton, Shaq, and Kobe.  So it can be done.  But remember, GP and Karl were at the twilight of their careers…..imagine if GP and Karl were at their 20’s….pretty crazy Laker’s line up.

With Kobe beating Lebron, Dwade, and Bosh….He will build and complete his legacy as the leagues Greatest Players…

That would be his 6th Ring…probably his greatest challenge and accomplishment of his career.  It is going to be an interesting 2011  indeed….
